Chinese Herb Blend: Xiao Yao Wan

Yesterday we had Rye’s second acupuncture session and Xiao Yao Wan is the herbal supplement we have now added to Rye’s regime.  Normally one takes a dose 3 times a day but we are baby stepping in and right now he only takes one dose during the day.  So far, so good.  Yesterday it helped [...]

Happy Late Easter

We have been at the beach and it has been really nice!  Rye had a friend come for the Easter weekend and minus a few bumps in the road here or there with Rye’s impatience and irritabiliy, they got along well.  We had fun swimming in the ocean and playing board games, etc.  As it [...]

Acupuncture, Here We Come

Rye has his first acupuncture appointment tomorrow.
He has been revving at a pretty high rate lately so we thought we would try this before upping his Seroquel and/or before I jab him with a bunch of sharp objects myself.  Best to leave it to the professionals.  And, who knows, maybe it will work.  And maybe [...]

SpRiNg BrEaK

Don, this one is for you.  I knew this would make you laugh.
My cooking is pretty good but the cleaning…
That said,  I am Spring Cleaning today.
I hate cleaning.   Frankly, I’m not real good at it.  I lack that organizational, OCD gene.  Big time.
Wish me luck.
Tomorrow…it’s on to carpet cleaning.
I can’t wait!!

Ms. Vague and Mr. Grave: Blue Middle School

Ms. Vague and Mr. Grave
Head
A middle school
A ridiculous, utterly preposterous public middle school
So sad, so sad
Are the kids
At the school
They
Are blue
Why, say you?
Are the kids so blue?
Well, it’s true
It’s true
The school does not follow it’s own rules
The kids school all day
Every day
And yet they can barely read
The kids try
And try
Yet most can barely write
Why?
Why?
It’s [...]

Attack Of The Angry Beaver

As I mentioned previously, Rye spent the night out Saturday night. He went to his friend’s house early in the day Saturday and around the early evening he needed us to bring him some money.  They were going to go out to eat for dinner and he wanted to pay for himself.  So, Don and [...]

sunday, dogwoods, relaxation

It’s been a nice weekend.  We had some crazy weather but the dogwoods here are in bloom and the are spectacular.  We have a white dogwood tree in the front yard but were inspired yesterday to buy a pink one to plant in the back yard.  I can’t wait to see it bloom next year.    [...]

911, Sanitarium

And just like that, it all came crashing down.
Rye had a meltdown of biblical proportions yesterday.  I confronted him on something he did not want to be confronted on and this triggered a three hour emotional breakdown that including thinking the devil was out to get him, a witch had put a curse on him, [...]

Sunday Review

Well, what can I say…things here at the homestead are going well.
Rye is doing his schoolwork for the most part, he is behaving for the most part, he is listening for the most part, he is helping around the house for the most part, he is fun to be with for more than the most [...]

I can’t help but think
that one day I will look back
on this time in my life
