Yesterday we went snowmobling. It was awesome. The views were unbelievable. And the terrain was the most difficult I have ever snowmobiled in, which made it challenging but a ton of fun. I went in a group for medium speed and Rye went in a group for fast speed. He loved it. His group looked a little more like this:
Well, ok, that is an exaggeration. That picture is from the Winter X Games. But you get the gist. His group was much more daring and went fast and did go over some [little] jumps.
The rush of adrenaline and the hours-long duration of excitement mixed with fear of the day was great fun while it lasted but it did lead to a meltdown later in the evening. Dinner and bedtime was a little rough. It’s hard to come down after you have been so jacked up all day. Overall, though, it was worth it. It was a really incredible experience. And a ton of fun.
In other news, Rye was elated to find out that the rental ski boots he is using this trip were last worn by Roger Clemens, ‘The Rocket’ pitcher for the New York Yankees. We didn’t ask for these boots but just by happenstance they were the only boots the ski rental company had with them in his size (14) when they came to fit Rye. So, he got them. They are really fancy ski boots. Bit excitement for Rye. Tales of intrigue.
Today it is snowing heavily so we are slow to get out to the ski slopes. And Rye really needed to sleep in from yesterday and regenerate. With the snow falling, it’s a beautiful morning to sit by the fire.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
