Stubbornicus

‘Boy Blue’ painting from Brenda York,  www.brendayork.blogspot.com
Well, Rye’s decision yesterday did not turn out to be a great one for him.  We ended up having to go pick him up from the friend’s house and he is now grounded from free time with friends through Christmas.  He also lost his bike.

Strong Willed Child

I am currently in a bit of a stand off with my boy.  I’m not proud of it but that’s where we are.   Why, you may ask?  Well, he wanted and wanted and wanted to go to a friend’s house.  Oh no, I said.  Oh yes, he said (there of course was much more to [...]

The Devil And Daniel Johnston: The Documentary

Wow, I’m not sure where to begin about this film.  The Devil and Daniel Johnston is a documentary film about a man named Daniel Johnston, his life, his art, his music, and his struggle with bipolar disorder (manic depression).  Daniel Johnston has had a very colorful life and has become somewhat of a cult hero [...]

One of the men that worked with Billy Graham in the Billy Graham ministry for years and years came to lead a prayer in the church we attended this week.  I am so glad we went as this was by far the single most moving verbal prayer I have ever heard in my life.  The [...]

Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut

Rye’s Reading.
As a part of our homeschool work I make Rye read a part of his reading assignment out loud every day as he is dyslexic and I need to make sure he is reading all of the words correctly.  Also, this way he can ask me how to pronounce words as we go or [...]

Be disruptive, non-linear, and inquisitive.
Create and imagine a solution

others see obstacles.
Be prepared to walk into the dark.
