In an ironic turn of events, I woke up with this song in my head.
Hail St. John’s, Hail St. John’s
Hail thy faith, thy foundation
Hail thy virtue, thy dedication
Hail St. John’s, Hail St. John’s
This is a part of the school song for St. John’s School in Houston, Texas. I attended this beacon of light institution for the first half of my life when we lived in Houston. As a result, I have this song ingrained in my memory for all time. And, if you have seen the movie ‘Rushmore’, you have seen the school.
Now, I will say, I’m a bit hesitant to tell you of this part of my history because St. John’s is an excellent school. There is no denying that. And if Mr. ______ (I’ll just leave this blank) were to see my grammar skills on this blog he would definitely give me “D-”, or maybe even a negative grade. He was into those. And if you had him for English, you know who I’m talking about. It’s not a school for the weak. But relax, Mr. __________, this is a blog. And by virtue of it’s very nature, it’s freestyle. Or at least this blog is. So I am free-wheelin’ and standard grammar skills don’t apply. Go give your negative grammar grade to some else. But I digress…
St. John’s is a far cry from the school Rye attends. Night and day, really. But that’s ok. What works for one kid won’t necessarily work for another.
Rye would have great appreciation for these clubs though.

Enough said.
