Yes, we've been using fish oil for a while but it wasn't enough. It does help balance the hormonal system though which in turn helps balance the moods.

I may mention Depakote to the doctor tomorrow. He hasn't had adderall for two weeks. I've been giving him Omega 3 supplemets. Have you heard of the Harvad Study (1999) with Omega 3 for BPD? The doctor recommended it.

Maria - Thanks for your comment. Adderall made my son completely manic and psychotic as well. Abilify isn't great for my son either although we do use it for a day or two on occasion but when he took it for weeks at a time it was giving him suicidal thoughts and it has an awful withdrawal. We went without meds for a while but then Rye starting ramping up and up and up and now we have him on Depakote and are hoping the Depakote evens things out a bit and helps bring down the mania. But we aren't there yet. Rye is still manic - although he seem to be coming down a bit. And the psychosis left a long time ago - about 2 months after we stopped the Adderall.

My son is 16 and was in the hospital for a week a month ago. I had him on aderall the doctor thought he may have adhd. His psychiatrist.

He had a manic episode after his dosage was increased, was experiencing hallucinations :( auditory hallucinations, thought disorders. It;s been hell. He overdosed on cough pills because he though he was the character in one of his video games and I had taken the game away a couple days prior...

He is on abilify right now. I'm worried that it is making him depressed. We have an appointment with the psychiatrist again tomorrow. Thank you for this site. I'm going through a lot of the same things

Meg, I'm hoping that Rye feels better very soon and that you all get some relief and some rest. I know you've had a rough run here lately and you all certainly deserve a good, long period of stability.

*Sigh* Sucks that what one deserves rarely has much relationship to what one gets. Good thoughts and a prayer from me!

Hang in there. I'm praying for you and Rye. I hope that the Depakote works, or at least that both of you get a break from the mania sometime soon!
