Garden Love

For the past couple of days Rye and I have spent time getting the garden ready and planted.

We planted:  tomatoes, okra, jalapenos, bell peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, zucchini, green beans and this weekend will start the herbs and various weird things we don’t expect to grow.

Because Rye has spent a great deal of time with his Pawpaw over the years working on his humongous garden, Rye knows much more about gardening than I do.  So really, he is teaching me.   But it’s all good.   I took some pics to track our progress.

This is the garden half-planted.  For some reason it looks quite small in this picture (I think because of the proportion of the yard) but it is a decent size.  The vine on the fence behind it is honeysuckle that is now starting to bloom.  Incredibly wonderful.

Because the garden was so tiny at this point I took some other pictures as well.  This is part of our backyard with the pool that I now have blue but not yet clear.  Apparently I’m going to have to break down and actually go get the water tested to get the chemicals just right.  Urghh.

And this is our friendly yard frog.   I just love him.  He’s so perky playing his fiddle even though he’s lost half of his color.

So, there you go.  Garden love.  I’m looking forward to tracking our progress and reaping the benefits.

Are the “weird things we dont expect to grow” stuff you dont like? Because in my experience, that’s the stuff that produces like a weed and you will have bushels of it!

Sherry: we were thinking of melons and such as the weird things. We’ve tried them before without much success.
