New York Trip Continued…
Highlights from Day 3 &4
Next to Normal – this is the musical we saw the third night. It was beyond incredible. It is about a woman/mom with bipolar disorder and it is so well done I can’t even tell you. It was spectacular. The music was great, the acting was great, the content was completely believable and accurate and I never thought I’d hear a song about Depakote, Lithium, Klonopin and all the rest but there was one and it was great as well. Regardless of whether or not you know someone with bipolar disorder, you will love this musical. If you do know someone with bipolar disorder or live with someone with bipolar disorder, you will be blown away. See it.
The Guggenheim Museum – incredible. The main exhibit we saw was called ‘Haunted’. And it was haunting. It was very interesting.
The Lower East Side Tenaments – ok, maybe it is just me but I find this tiny area of the world and the time period when these came to be fascinating. Did you know that the original Lower East Side tenaments around Delancey Street had no running water, electricity, or heat? They had no bathrooms. I can’t even imagine living like that. Especially in those very crowded conditions in the heat and cold of New York City. All in search of a new life in a new country. Incredible.
Battery Park – we didn’t have time to take the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty but we had both been before so it wasn’t a must do. I do love this park though so we hung out in it for a while. The view of the area is great and I like to watch the boats/ferrys go by.
And, those were the main highlights from that trip. It was a great weekend. We ate some great food, saw some great sights, and had a nice break from day-to-day life.
Thanks Gam!
And thanks Don for making a great weekend for Rye as well! That is priceless!
