Understanding

Things happen for a reason.  I believe this to be true.
We had a very strange day over here.  It started with Rye being off the charts and me just about wanting to send him to the hospital and then it ended in almost a completely different direction.
We drove by the school this evening on our [...]

The World Is A Classroom

I was watching “19 Kids and Counting” tonight and Michelle Duggar said this about her kids and homeschooling, the world is a classroom.   I thought it was great.   Because it’s so true.  And I wonder, is “out-of-school schooling” better for some kids that “in-school schooling”?  Could be.  And I may have one of those kids.
Now, [...]

Freedom

I swiped this picture from Herrad’s blog, Access Denied-Living With Mulitple Sclerosis.

Herrad has some great art on her site.  And she owns Jack Russell Terriers, which make her an overall exceptional person.  I amped up the colors of this image a bit but I just love this picture.  I would so love to be on [...]

Manic Mice Benefit From Lithium

According to this article from Science Daily, mice can be made manic by removing a certain gene. And, they can benefit from treatment with Lithium, just as manic humans can.

The Calm

When underwater, the world above is muffled.  The sounds are hardly detectable.  The sight is blurred.  And the weight of the water pushes on the body like a gentle, loving embrace.
Rye is out of school now until the school can come with a better plan for him.  Being a victim to physical assault and gross [...]

A Reassuring Lie

My dad once told me that people can only take so much of the truth until it makes them want to throw up all over the place.

I know what he means.

Get Up, Stand Up: Stand Up For Your Rights

Back at the homestead:
Earlier this week we went to the Sheriff’s office and filed the case on the teacher from last week.  On the Sheriff’s part, the investigation was done and everything was filed and now it was time to do our part.  The Sheriff told me I needed to take Rye with me to [...]

My Bipolar Life/Ilse

Guest Post:
I was severely depressed by the time I was ten years old. Below average in terms of my weight and always athletic, I decided in fourth grade that I was too heavy to wear sleeveless shirts. Throughout middle school, I felt ostracized and it affected me in a very devastating way. I wanted to [...]
